Weekend Travel: Amsterdam | NL
Now is one of the best time to experience Amsterdam. I have lived there for the past 6 months and the city has finally shown its smile after months of gloomy day. And as these days are my last days in Amsterdam, I biked around to enjoy the luxury of such a nice weather. I discovered three locations to enjoy the beauty of mother nature along with the charm of Amsterdam. Lets go!
De Pijp Area
My original intention to bike around this area is to check the Amsterdam School architecture. Instead, I found this beautiful area along the canal. Here, indeed I feel Amsterdam can be pretty surreal.
Neighborhood along Boerenwetering canal, west side of de Pijp area.
And here I still get to examine all the delicate brickwork from a building from the Amsterdam School era circa 1920. Looking at these buildings, amazing craftsmanship and engineering work!
Amsterdamse Bos : Kersenbloesempark
I heard they have such a place where people can visit and view the cherry blossoms, like in Washington DC! And it's at this park, south side of Amsterdam called Amsterdamse Bos, it's a bit far out from the city center, better be worth it.
The park is huge!
I stopped at the far north side and walked all the way to the south side and found nothing but green open landscape. It's beautiful and calming but no sign of any cherry blossoms. It turns out, the area is called Kersenbloesempark, pretty literal, and it's actually super close to the street. So after 10+ km walk, finally, found it!
Such a good day to end my chapter in Amsterdam, the charming city of the past. Onto the next one, the city of tomorrow, Rotterdam!
